A STORY ON HOW OUR CATTLE IS RAISED
SPRING, SUMMER, FALL
During the spring, summer and fall months the cows free range on pasture land attached to our home quarter. We also haul some north to graze on more pasture land.
WINTER
During the winter months the cows are still able to free range but we give them green feed daily which we swath and bale in the fall months so they have adequate nutrition year round.
STRESS FREE
We believe that raising animals in a low stress and free environment is the best way to be. Our cows have access to fresh water at all times year round and, are not confined to pens. We do bring our cows in to the home quarter during the end of February and March during our calving season, so we are able to check them around the clock.
HEY, I’M ASHLEY
a big city girl who married the love of my life and best friend Garrett, a fifth generation grain and cattle farmer.
We live in the same farmyard Garrett grew up on raising our three children. Our family owned and operated farm is located along the coulee riverbanks, east of Red Deer an hour.
I grew up in some biggest cities across the country but the majority of it was spent in Calgary. I enjoyed being in large social settings with many friends around, being the life of the party. I never would have thought in a million years I would one day meet someone and move out of the city, let alone onto a farm 11 years ago. Then learn and now run the biggest piece of equipment ( the combine ) on the farm each and every fall. I now much rather enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of living in a rural setting, than listen to the hustle and bustle noise of the city. But don’t get me wrong I do love to drive down to the city every so often for a good old shopping day and catching up with old friends. But nothing beats heading home after the day and getting back to life here with the family. I love nothing more than raising our children the way Garrett was raised and them learning so many life skills that you just don't learn in school with living this lifestyle.
Slowly on the farm we are now adding some other animals that are providing us with wholesome farm raised food that cannot be beat.
Growing up in the city and moving to the farm I believed there was no difference in home raised beef or food in general than in the big box stores. But after not much time at all, I noticed a big difference in the taste, and how my stomach reacted to pure home grown food. Which has now led me to the present day and why I have made the leap from the farm selling only a few animals a year to close friends and family, to now going bigger to sell to you! Over the last few years I have really started having more conversations with people from all walks of life and noticed a lot of people are starting to also want to know exactly where their food comes from, how its raised, cared for and butchered.
I am very grateful that I moved to the farm and I get to help grow and humanely raise food on the farm, which I believe is extremely important, and for you the consumer, to know where your food comes from, how it was raised, and who raised it! My goal is to bridge the gap between consumer and rancher so you can rest easy knowing the products you feed your family and animals is not only delicious, but also wholesome.
I do this because I've done a lot of research on what goes into my family's diet, and I’ve learned so much about how healthy our beef really is, and I want to share this with everyone I can. When I first moved to the farm I was focused on my esthetician services I never would have thought I would be moving into this line of product, agriculture is absolutely my true passion in life.
A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ASHLEY
1. I am a hardcore hockey/gymnastics mom.
2. I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of farm life from gardening to working cattle to running farm equipment, even if I don't always know what I am doing.
3. I’m an internationally certified makeup artist, with also a master certificate for pmu of brows.
